My favorite gifts for Grads

People always want to know my recommendations for gifts for high school and college graduates. I tend to give gifts that are useful and this is definitely true for grads. If you put a logo or school colors on anything it will most assuredly be the favorite gift the grad receives. Here are my top five suggestions.

  1. Laundry bag - this is something that kids can fill up with clothes or bedding they are taking to college and then use for dirty laundry while they are at college. Whether they are bringing their clothes home to launder or dragging it to a dorm basement, it is much easier with a sturdy laundry bag that has a big strap and a drawstring. When the bag gets dirty they can throw it in the wash too and have it for years. I liken this bag to the military duffles they get when they head off o basic training - but way cuter.
  2. Monogrammed towels - this is the best way to make sure their towels aren't lost, misplaced or stolen. Yes, they look nice, but it is practical to put even a simple name or monogram on them. Whether its for your own child or someone else's this is one of the top things I recommend as a grad gift.
  1. Wedge pillow - this pillow let’s you sit comfortably propped up in a bed - which is where many students study. This is a very substantial pillow and the price point it higher than some of the other items on this list so this is the gift you are giving someone who is special to you. The cover is removable and machine washable. It can be monogrammed or also looks beautiful with an applique.
  2. Cosmetic bags, Dopp kits, Hanging toiletry bags - these are a staple product and you really can’t have too many of them! They can be used for toiletries or just basic storage and with a college logo they are a perennial favorite! Kids need storage and help with organization when they head off to college and we find that these bags are so simple and useful that they get used a lot. Oh and they can be thrown in the washing machine to freshen them up too! When I make team gifts or group gifts this is often what I make. The hanging ones are particularly useful in a dorm room and if they share a bathroom.  My theory is that if you send them off organized there's a decent chance they will stay that way!
  3. Sweatshirt blanket - cozy, easy to wash, looks amazing personalized, this one is a no-brainer. These blankets will last for as long as you'd expect a sweatshirt to last but it will always fit. College kids love their blankets and this is one of the gifts that we always hear back about and that people order year after year as their go-to gift. I keep one of these in my car at all times too.
